For an owner replacing an aging GPS, the right answer may be a compact IFR navigator with an existing radio stack. For a full panel modernization, it may be a larger touchscreen navigator that can control an audio panel, transponder, autopilot, and flight display. Choosing by screen size or headline feature alone can create expensive compatibility problems later.

What Makes an Aircraft GPS Navigator the Right Choice?

Start by separating certified panel navigation from portable situational awareness. A certified IFR GPS navigator can be approved for en route, terminal, and approach operations when installed correctly and maintained with current navigation data.
