DESCRIPTION

Garmin G5 Stack PDF/HSI Package

The G5 electronic flight instrument offers a wide range of flexible panel configuration options along with the reliability associated with a modern electronic flight instrument.

HSI Avionics Package

Up to 2 G5 displays can be incorporated into a single aircraft panel in several approved combinations, including the attitude, DG/HSI, or turn coordinator positions. In dual installations, a secondary G5 can revert to display attitude information in the unlikely event of a failure in the primary attitude indicator position.
A pilot-selectable menu on the G5 DG/HSI enables the manual selection and interchange between the attitude indicator and DG/HSI display.

Dual G5 Installation Options Offer Added Redundancy

Each G5 for certificated aircraft includes a 4-hour backup battery for use in the event of an aircraft electrical system failure. In dual G5 configurations, customers receive dual ADAHRS and dual backup batteries, offering safety-enhancing redundancy.

Now Includes GAD 13 Bundle

The G5 electronic flight instrument is now capable of displaying outside air temperature (OAT) and true airspeed (TAS) using a temperature probe and the new Garmin GAD™ 13 adapter. Similar to other Garmin products, OAT displays along the bottom of the airspeed indicator, while TAS is displayed on the top of the airspeed indicator. When G5 is configured as a directional gyro (DG) or horizontal situation indicator (HSI), wind speed and direction is also displayed in the upper left corner of the G5. For standalone G5 installations, the GAD 13 and a temperature probe are required. For aircraft where G5 is paired with a compatible PFD such as G3X Touch, G5 will display this information with a software update. New for experimental aircraft, G5 can also display density altitude below the altimeter while the aircraft is on the ground.

Questions & Answers

See below for answers to our most popular questions.

Have a Question?

  • does tis come with the GAD29 or the GMU11?

This package will come supplied with the installation kits, GMU 11, and the GAD 29B as part of the standard package.

  • Does this include the LPM module ?

The G5 Attitude and HSI will both come with the required LPM module.

  • What radio is required?

A GPS signal is required for the G5. The G5 contains an internal GPS receiver that can be connected to a GPS antenna or optionally can use external GPS input if available. The G5 requires GPS for attitude aiding, and can also be used to provide ground track and ground speed. The G5 can use the Glare Shield Mounted GPS Antenna (010-12444-10) or GPS data from an approved GPS navigator or a GPS-enabled GTX 3x5 transponder. Here's a list of compatible navigators with the G5:

    • GTN 6XX/7XX(Xi) Series
    • GNS 4XX/5XX Series with WAAS
    • GNS 480 Series
    • GTX 335/345 w/GPS transponder with software version 2.10 or later
    • GPS 175/GNX 375/GNC 355

Note: It is possible to connect to both a Glare Shield Mounted GPS Antenna via a coaxial cable and a GPS navigator over RS-232 simultaneously.

Note: In a dual G5 installation, only the G5 Attitude requires the GPS antenna connection. The GPS information is communicated to the G5 DG/HSI over the CAN bus.
