DESCRIPTION

The Trig TY92 is a high-power, 16-watt VHF communication radio designed for high-performance and larger aircraft. Ideal for retrofit installations, it offers a compact solution that can be mounted separately from the main avionics stack—perfect as either a primary or standby radio. The TY92 is specifically built for aircraft with a 28-volt electrical system.

Despite its small size, the TY92 is packed with features. It includes a clear, easy-to-read display and a straightforward user interface. The Dual Watch feature allows monitoring of two frequencies simultaneously, while nine programmable channel memories provide quick access to commonly used frequencies. The radio supports integration with popular GPS units via the SL40 protocol, enabling automatic display of en-route frequencies.

A built-in two-place intercom with auxiliary input reduces the need for additional hardware, saving both weight and cost. The TY92’s modular design consists of a separate control head and radio unit, offering flexible installation options—especially valuable in aircraft with limited panel space. The control head fits into a standard 57mm (2¼") instrument hole and has a shallow depth of just 74mm (3"), making it ideal where space is limited.

Certified to both EASA ETSO and FAA TSO standards, the TY92 is approved for global use. For users not requiring 8.33 kHz spacing, this can be disabled, allowing quick selection between 25 kHz and 50 kHz channel steps.

Optimized for standard aviation headsets, the TY92’s intercom includes noise-compensating adjustments for use in louder cockpits. An internal speaker amplifier is also included, which can drive an external speaker—especially useful for glider pilots. Note that if using a boom dynamic microphone, an amplified adapter is required.

All Trig products come with a two-year warranty, supported by an international network of Approved Trig Dealers and Service Centers in the U.S. and Australia.
